Dr. James Robinson has been Director of Conservation for the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust since May 2018.

James has over 20 years of experience in the nature conservation sector. He has had previous roles as the RSPB's Director for Eastern England, Head of Nature Policy, Director for Northern Ireland, and Conservation Manager for Northern Ireland, at WWT as Head of Wetland Biodiversity Unit, and as Research Assistant at the University of Durham. He has a PhD in seabird ecology and a BSc degree in Biological Sciences, both from the University of Durham.

James is also a member of the IUCN UK Committee, the Management Working Group and Scientific and Technical Review Panel of the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands, and Technical sub-committee of the East-Asian Australasian Flyway Partnership.
