Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust
Martin has been Chief Executive of the WWT since 2004.
His career has spanned public, business, and not for profit sectors, including a secondment to HM Treasury.
In 1988 he joined the conservation world with the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF UK) and then to the Berkshire, Buckinghamshire & Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust as its first Chief Executive. Prior to moving to WWT he was seconded to the RSWT as its acting Chief Executive to steer it through a period of substantial change.
Past roles have included Chair of Marine Conservation Society, Chair of the North Wessex Downs AONB Council, Environment Agency Thames REPAC member, Chair of Oxfordshire Environment Forum, founder trustee of Pond Conservation (now Freshwater Habitats Trust), and trustee of Veolia Environmental Trust.
He is currently a member the IUCN UK Committee, member of the Management Committee of the East Asian Australasian Flyway Partnership and chair of its Strategic Planning Task Force, Chair of WWT Consulting, and trustee and Chair of Wildlife & Countryside Link.
Martin was awarded the CBE by HM The Queen in 2013 for services to nature conservation. The same year he received an honorary Doctor of Science from the University of Roehampton.
